What we learned on our summer break:)
In a search for inspiration and rejuvenation, we spent a month travelling in Puglia, Italy this summer . We found both on our trip learned a few things along the way. Read on for 3 of our faves:)
craftsmanship is worth it
Everywhere we visited, there was an abundance of craftspeople. It didn’t matter whether it was baking bread, making ceramics or gelato - these were people who made with passion attended by people who were happy to wait and pay for these very special things. Good stuff is worth it - every time.
Go LOCAL whenever you can
Everywhere in Puglia things are sourced as locally as possible. There’s the practical side of things costing less because they didn’t travel as far. There’s also the equally important elements that are knowing the source, supporting those close to you and genuinely being part of a community that has a feedback look creating greater quality of service and product.
What’s the rush?
The pace of life is slower in southern Italy. Everything get’s done, (eventually), and things don’t fall apart with the longer timeline. In our business, deadlines are obviously important while we also know, design has never suffered from having extra time. Something to consider when you set your own deadlines : leave some space - you’ll be happy you did.
